April 29, 2013. Ram's first check-up today. All went really well with Ram. I brought Roxie in as well because (for the last month) she has progressively been acting odd. Also, in the last few weeks, we've notice her stomach has seemed bloated.
Well, my heart is broken today. I can barely write this. Roxie has incurable/inoperable cancer. In short, the tumor in her belly could rupture at any time causing severe pain. The doctor recommends that we send her to doggie heaven as soon as possible (due to the possibility of rupture and severe pain). I have been crying and hugging Roxie all afternoon. She has been such an angel to us. I'm so sorry Roxie. We are so grateful for you. We love you so much.
The doctor writes the following: "Hemangiosarcoma. It can cause a large amount of blood to form a blister under the surface of the capsule of the spleen. It can bleed a large amount of blood spontaneously and cause the pet to pass away without any warning. Although the spleen can be removed surgically, this will gain somewhere between 2-6 months of life before the suspected tumor moves to either her heart or liver and lungs or all of the listed organs. I'm sorry this has happened to Roxie. She's such a good dog and such a support for your family. Let us know if there's anyway we can be of help."
