Wednesdays are always a super fun day for Ram: Long hikes in woods and Therapy Dog Training tonight. Such a good boy. :) Love!
Ram
loves moss as much as I do. He is resting after chasing his 1st deer
in the woods. I can't believe he didn't catch it! lol! Quiet hikes in
the woods with Ram are so serene.

This is a training walk/morning for Ram. He has his pre-dog therapy class tonight. He's doing so well. So proud of this puppy. Today he learned the yoga pose "downward" dog. I'm not sure how useful that will be as a therapy dog; but, it's sweet to watch.
Here is a 6 second video of Ram doing the "come" command from a distance and the "sit" command.
Come Ram! Good boy! Click me :)

Angel Roxie April 30th
I'm of course still a complete mess. My eyes are red and puffy from crying so much. I've never had to put a beloved pet to sleep before. This is incredibly hard. She's going downhill fast. Logically, I know it is the kindest thing to do for her. Oh, my heart hurts. I will miss her so much.
Talked with Chris and the boys last night and we all decided it was best for Roxie to help her go to doggie heaven sooner rather than later. Especially since she is at high risk of the hematoma bursting in her belly (which would cause severe pain).
I spoke with Dr. Dorsch today about his availability which is Saturday. I tried to get him to come to our house but he is the only vet in the office on Saturday. So we will have to take her to the Animal Hospital. He said it would be o.k. to give her a few doggie Xanax to calm her nerves before the visit.
It turns out that Austin and Zack want to be by her side while she is being put to sleep. Chris, Mar will be there as well. And, possibly Marissa and Lara and my parents will be there.
We've had so many happy years
What is to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer, so,
When the time comes, please let me go.
Take me where my needs they'll tend only,
So this is where we part, My Friend,
and you'll run on, around the bend,
gone from sight, but not from mind,
new pleasures there you'll surely find.
I will go on, I'll find the strength,
life measures quality, not its length.
One long embrace before you leave,
share one last look, before I grieve.
There are others, that much is true,
but they be they, and they aren't you.
And I, fair, impartial, or so I thought,
will remember well all you've taught.
Your place I'll hold, you will be missed,
the fur I stroked, the nose I kissed.
And as you journey to your final rest,
take with you this...I loved you best.

Well, we didn't plan it this way, but we happen to be sending Roxie to heaven on Kevin's birthday (5/4). I like to imagine what a great birthday present that will be for sweet Kev. Happy birthday Kevin, your Roxie girl is coming home.
For Roxie:
My our best friend and constant companion,
you selfessly gave love, courage, joy, comfort, and strength.
To the family you protected
We will be together again one day and walk side by side for eternity.
You will now be with your sweet Daddy, Kevin on his birthday. He will be so happy to be with you again -- what a joyful birthday gift. Together again. Roxie, we know you will give Kevin lots of your sweet angel love.

Dogs already know
I was wondering aloud the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than humans
When a little girl who was listening said
"I know why, "people are born so they can learn how to live a good life.
Like loving everybody all the time and being nice,
well dogs already know how to do that... so they don't have to stay as long.

A PETS PRAYER
If it should be, that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done
For this, the last battle, can't be won.
You will be sad, I understand.
Don't let your grief then stay your hand,
For this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship stand the test.
If it should be, that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done
For this, the last battle, can't be won.

What is to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer, so,
When the time comes, please let me go.
Take me where my needs they'll tend only,
Stay with me to the end,
And hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will see
It is a kindness you do to me
And hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will see
It is a kindness you do to me
Although my tail its last has waved
From pain and suffering I've been saved.
Don't grieve it should be you,
Who decides this thing to do,
We've been so close, we two, these years
Don't let your heart hold any tears.
Smile - for we walked together,
For a little while.
From pain and suffering I've been saved.
Don't grieve it should be you,
Who decides this thing to do,
We've been so close, we two, these years
Don't let your heart hold any tears.
Smile - for we walked together,
For a little while.

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge...
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow
Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the
animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are
made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to
them; who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the
distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from
the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. YOU have been spotted,
and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be
parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and
you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent
from your heart.
THEN YOU CROSS RAINBOW BRIDGE TOGETHER...

Roxie diagnosed with cancer today 4/29
April 29, 2013. Ram's first check-up today. All went really well with Ram. I brought Roxie in as well because (for the last month) she has progressively been acting odd. Also, in the last few weeks, we've notice her stomach has seemed bloated.
Well, my heart is broken today. I can barely write this. Roxie has incurable/inoperable cancer. In short, the tumor in her belly could rupture at any time causing severe pain. The doctor recommends that we send her to doggie heaven as soon as possible (due to the possibility of rupture and severe pain). I have been crying and hugging Roxie all afternoon. She has been such an angel to us. I'm so sorry Roxie. We are so grateful for you. We love you so much.
The doctor writes the following: "Hemangiosarcoma. It can cause a large amount of blood to form a blister under the surface of the capsule of the spleen. It can bleed a large amount of blood spontaneously and cause the pet to pass away without any warning. Although the spleen can be removed surgically, this will gain somewhere between 2-6 months of life before the suspected tumor moves to either her heart or liver and lungs or all of the listed organs. I'm sorry this has happened to Roxie. She's such a good dog and such a support for your family. Let us know if there's anyway we can be of help."

The Tail of two Poodles by Roxie and Rameses
The life of two poodles and the joy and love the give to their happy human family.
Meet Rameses, born June 26, 2012 (our soon to be adopted 9 month old babe). He will eventually turn silver/grey.
Letter from Ram to his new human family:
I love oysters!
Look at my long tail!
This is my mommy. She is a party poodle mamma. I get my fun side from her ;)
This is my champion show dog metro Daddy, Phil. He is #2 Champion in the country. I get my good looks from him. He is also #1 Search, Rescue, and Narcotic Detection dog in Texas. So I must have an amazing sense of smell.
Here I am running with Gypsy
This is our sweet 10 year old girl, Roxie.
Queen Roxie Morel, on her royal throne, awaits for her Prince Ramsey to arrive. She is the ruler of this land. She is Alpha female. Make no mistake, Ram will do as she pleases.
Roxie has been and always will be our angel on earth doggie. Always here to comfort and love us. We love you Roxie!
